Riverina Merino Goes Beyond the Boundary Fence in 2006.

Riverina Merino has unveiled new and exciting promotional plans to take their winning trifecta product into new territory in 2006, including attending a number of high profile interstate shows and events.

One of the key highlights in the calendar will be establishing a comprehensive Riverina Merino feature at the upcoming World Merino Conference at Katanning, WA in July. Other events planned for the promotional rollout include the Dubbo National Merino Sheep Show and Hamilton Sheepvention in August, and the Bendigo Australian Wool and Sheep Show at the end of July.

Show visitors will see first hand how Riverina Merino members work alongside producers to identify strategic business targets in wool, breeding, sales and meat, and Stud Managers will be on site during the events to discuss opportunities within diverse operations of all sizes.

“We’re looking forward to showing the other states how diverse and sturdy the Riverina Merino is, and how contemporary products and techniques have dramatically improved both productivity and profitability in the modern Merino landscape,“ says President David Taylor, who, like his colleagues, is committed to moving into new territories and proving just how much his breed can achieve. ”Our show and sale results consistently prove that the Riverina Merino is the breed that will continue to be the sheep for today's market as economic drivers will continue to support large frames, heavy wool cut and reliable fertility”.

Throughout 2005, Riverina Merino has continued to raise the bar in the sale ring with the spring results showing excellent demand from re-stockers and prime lamb breeders for the large lines of ewes produced annually. With the recent downturn particularly in fine and superfine wool there has been natural progression to the big, medium wools and the benefits provided by Riverina Merinos.

Riverina Merino is a group of thirty-two studs working together to consistently improve the genetic gain of their bloodlines through dedicated management and research programs. They offer a free newsletter and a comprehensive website displaying the latest in show and sale results.
